Sea Maiden

There are many reasons why it is rare to see a woman on board a ship as part of the crew: the maneuvers on board require strength and agility that a woman can hardly possess, and the confined spaces of a ship force the crew into promiscuity which can lead to accidents of various kinds and severity.
However, a woman who feels herself drawn to life at sea may find her place aboard a ship as healer; in fact, an injured or sick man will always prefer to be treated by a woman rather than by another man; furthermore sailors often have a rather irascible and irritable character, and a woman is more likely to have the patience necessary to cure the patient rather than to eliminate him definitively.
So a girl with an adventurous spirit and some knowledge of medicine can embark on a ship like a Sea Maiden, but she will always need to be able to contribute as a fighter as well.
