Felinian society didn't develop the kind of mages and priests that other races have. Instead they have a kind of bard-shamans called purrers. Soothers are initiate purrers, they learn about various herbs and ways of tending the hurt and most of all - songs imbued with magic flowing along the purring sounds of their melody. The mystic purr can bring peace to a troubled spirit, calming the mind and letting the body regenerate faster, fill their listeners with courage, inspiring to great deeds and many other magical effects. In dire need, one may also emit a cursing hiss distorting the life energies of those who would come to them with hostile intent.
