Avian Tribe Insurgent

While not many Avians long for military life, sometimes there is an odd one out from the flock, and these lightly armoured males often find themselves disobeying their tribe's leaders. Undiscouraged, they set off with a sack of money (often stolen) and see if the neighbouring races are, for once, not trying to exterminate them all and would be willing to train them as soldiers. After rigorous training, they return to their homelands... assuming they weren't burned down to the ground. They are known to carry around extra swords to use as throwing weapons, but they do pretty well in close combat.
